Real Sliders for the Real World      Slider that fit tight to the body

Plenty of under body protection      Even the front plastic fender flare is protected
Hummer H3 rock sliders designed by experienced 4 wheelers for the serious 4 wheeler. You may have seen other rock sliders that can bend under the weight of an average person or on the first solid obstacle. You can expect ours to hold up your 5000lbs off-roading machine with confidence. If you use your Hummer H3 as a finely tuned off-road trail punishing adventure vehicle than you need something stronger! Finally a slider that not only protects your vehicle but looks good without sacrificing ground clearance or the body lines that makes a Hummer a Hummer.

DESIGN

Able to hold up your H3      From a design stand point we considered how your rock sliders will be used. When you 4 wheeling you are going to have some kind of impact. How you absorb that impact is important. The common impacts you can have are: landing on rocks (upward force), sliding sideways into rocks or pivoting around an obstacle (inward force), sliding on an obstacle forward or backwards (forwards or backwards force). Rock sliders need to be secured in such a way to support each of these forces. Most rock sliders on the market bolt to the frame. This is good, however, it normally requires long legs to reach under the vehicle to reach the frame. This helps multiple the force of each impact as the legs simply become a torque multiplier. Think of that stuck bolt on your rig, the longer the wrench you use the easier it is to loosen. To keep these forces down you want to mount with as short a leg as possible. Our rock sliders use NO legs. We instead use the existing strength found in your vehicle and spread those forces out across a LARGE area decreasing the impact damage that might be caused to a single spot. Think of pounding on your door with your fist vs an open hand slap. The fist will dent the door, the slap will just hurt your hand.

Complete cab protection and no loss of ground clerance      A major factor in designing the slider for your H3 is to keep them as high as possible. The larger the slider the more clearance you lose. We took this into account in our design by tucking the slider to the body causing you to lose only 1/4" of clearance verses 2" to 3" like the others. Losing 2" to 3" means you will contact obstacles more often. The more contact, the more chances those obstacles will hang you up with your tires in the air. As we all know the best way to go over an obstacle is to get your tire on it. You don't want to straddle it or you will get high centered but with a standard slider taking the obstacle with your tire runs the obstacle right along the path between your tires. Currently this area is the highest ground clearance on your H3. Adding a low hanging slider would take away that advantage.

OPTIONS

Each set of rock sliders is custom built to order. If you want a more "manly" look we can substitute in 1/4" thick diamond plate for the side and/or bottom plates verses the 1/4" flat plate. Want to throw a piece of diamond plate on the top to use your slider as a step to make accessing your roof rack easier or to give your buddy some place to stand when he is being your counter balance in a off-camber situation, no problem. If you can imagine it we can fabricate it.

INSTALLATION

Installation is easy but does require a little drilling and cutting so you must have some experience using a cutoff wheel and a drill.
  1. The standard rock sliders comes unfinished so you will want to paint, powder coat, or chrome them before installation.
  2. Remove the plastic factory "slider", very easy to do.
  3. Remove all the plastic clips that may be left over from the plastic slider removal. Example
  4. Drill out all the factory holes where the plastic clips were just removed using a 7/16 drill bit.
  5. Using a 9/32 drill bit drill the tack welds that hold the bracket near the rear fender well. Example
  6. Next we need to remove the rear tire. Example
  7. Cut a 2"x3" rectangular slot in the rear fender to allow sliding the nut backing plate into the side panel of your H3. (This may sound hard but very easy to do).
  8. Slide in the nut plate through the opening you just made. The plate should have the nuts towards the bottom and on the inside of the plate. Push it in until it is lined up with the plastic clip holes you drilled out earlier.
  9. Using rust preventative paint cover any bare metal you see that was created: 1) removing the bracket near the rear fender, 2) the holes from the plastic clips and 3) the slot cut in the rear fender well used to slide in the nut plate. This will prevent rust in the future. Color does not need to be an exact match as all these areas are covered with your new slider.
  10. Take your new slider and hold it to your Hummer and start bolting it using the 7 supplied bolts, lock washers and washers. A buddy may be helpful to have around during this part.
  11. Once the top side of the slider is tightly bolted in place you can drill out the 5 bolt holes on the lower part of the slider using a 7/16 drill bit.
  12. Install the 5 supplied bolts, washers, lock washers and nuts with the washer, lock washer and nut on the underside of your vehicle.
